Best 100 heavyweights 1885 to 1955, input please.

    I think I would have Bob Baker at least in tier III as he beat Nino Valdes (twice) and Rex Layne (3 times) both from tier III and he also beat Jimmy Bivins from tier II, although admittedly the Bivins he beat was a bit older by then. But I do think Baker, who also has wins over Baksi, Jimmy Slade and Johnny Holman deserves to be up a notch.

    George Gardner. He was just a beefed up middleweight who holds no notable wins at heavy. I wouldn't even have him in tier V. But that's just my opinion.

    Fair enough too. However when Gardner was in his prime the best heavyweights included other beefed up middleweights like Root, McCoy, O'Brien, Fitz, Burns, indeed Hart. He did ok with this lot, but yeah he is probably too highly rated by me. Thanks for the thoughtful input.
