I think you're being liberal with the ISH there.. Wilder has the worst title defences in recent heavyweight history and possibly top 5 worst of all time.

Maybe. Its disgraceful that he's yet to face a single clear top ten hw contender in a defense. No one has ever had this many consecutive defenses of this low a quality. I agree in that.

But part of the reason for that is most lesser belt holders lose to the level of comp he's fighting. White wolf beating Brewster, Briggs beating White Wolf, that's just one belt with two consecutive changes in possession by a champ losing to a guy considered to be at the level of Wilders comp heading into the fight. It's tough to keep beating top 20ish hws and Wilder has done it, so I give the devil his due.

You know what I thought the same thing at first. Then I re-read and he says by achievement only, not by h2h ability. Wilder has 5 defenses of his crappy belt but it is what it is. By default IMO that ranks him higher than guys like Tucker, Golota or Witherspoon -- guys who never held a belt for long.

One name I see was missed is Frank Bruno. Again though, Bruno managed to win ABC belts and then quickly lost them.

    Ali
    Holmes
    Foreman
    Lewis
    Tyson
    Holyfield
    Frazier
    Bowe
    Norton
    Wlad
    Witherspoon
    Vitali

After that, there are a number of very good fighters that are hard to definitively separate (Tucker, Moorer, Tubbs, Dokes, Pinklon Thomas, Douglas, Ruddock, Bruno, Page, Lyle, Quarry)

Although Joshua has the potential to make this list, such a ranking is premature at this time.

No way in Hell Tyson Fury makes this list. And so far, same goes for Wilder. I see no evidence Wilder is as skilled or hits as hard as even Shannon Briggs. And NOBODY has mentioned Brigg's name for this list (and rightfully so).

Briggs and Brewster could very easily beat Wilder...

Wilder has had 5 voluntary defences and chose to fight guys who are European level at best.

Golota never won a title. Tucker lost his to Mike Tyson by UD... If Wilder fought Tyson in his first defence do you think he would have retained it?

Wilder ranks above these guys as a titelist

    Valeuv
    Maskaev
    Peter
    Byrd
    Haye
    Parker
    Wlad (WBO)

He's a notch below Vitali but he chance to surpass him.

There hasn't been a whole lot of single title reigns throughout history.
