He fought (& occasionally beat) his best competition during that time frame, but those fights also reveal his ceiling as well. Being on roughly the same par w/ Chuvalo, Ellis, & Quarry is not an argument for being a truly great HW.

Moorer had the power to hurt Patterson and Moorer might have hit as hard as Johannson.

I am certain, nay very certain, That Moorer's power was not in the same ballpark as Johannsen's.

Are we talking a prime Williams or the one that faced Morrison? Because Morrison has no chance against a prime Williams, whereas Patterson does. I don't really consider Bentt to pose a problem, as Patterson did not leave himself open to counters like Morrison did, he's also much faster.

Moorer certainly hurt men with better chins than Johannson did.

Moorer was considerably bigger at heavyweight than Johannson and was punching on larger men than Johannson punched on. I'm not saying that Johannson did or did not hit harder than Moorer, I'm just saying you have to take their competition into consideration.

I’m going to go with Tony Tucker.

Tony split a pair of close fights with Orlin Norris (split and majority decisions) and he’s not exactly a guy of stature. I know their styles are different but Floyd had hand speed, was awkward in his own way and was definitely a better fighter than Orlin.

Prime Holyfield. Wouldn't bet on Patterson but he could do it.

    Foreman, Holyfield, Cooper, Stewart, etc.
Who did Johansson hurt that took punches like Holyfield?

Patterson vs Tucker would be interesting. Could see Tucker dropping Patterson, but I think Patterson out hustles him to a decision win.

The best 90s HW Floyd could beat? I have no doubt he could beat Michael Moorer

Where is the consideration for Patterson being in the final third of his career while these men were prime?
