Prime Liston was definitely in the 50s imo, and the 50s still really aren't all that

25 like Walcott Charles Patterson Archie) some other decent fighters like Johnson Ingo Cleveland Williams Machen

When I think Machen, I think Folley, like twins!

Nice thread Gaz but could i be really irritating and ask nicely for the removal of Bruno and addition of any of about 8 different guys. It simply cannot be Bruno.

Lol 80s weren’t easy for me. Seems most decades have at least one guy people want to change.

1961-1970: Yow, that's tough. Liston over Frazier...can't see that. I think your call on Patterson is perfect, though. I just watched that fight between Floyd and Ellis and am stunned that Ellis got the nod.
1971-1980: Interesting how you put Foreman above Ali...true, Ali was done after '75, but I can't see Foreman above him in that era. I also have trouble seeing Larry above him and Frazier. Or Young above Norton. But definitely thought-provoking.
1981 - 1990: Again, curious...Holmes to me was obviously the best champ of that era, with Iron Mike a solid second. How curious to put Spinks over Larry, Dokes. I don't see Spinks having a chance against even 1983 Larry, and I don't see him making it against the Weaver-drawing Dokes (or Weaver, for that matter). As far as Tony Tucker over Holmes...no comment. I must admit though, you make some really interesting choices!
1991 - 2000: Bowe...hmmm. Holy was already getting at least considered great by the time Bowe beat him, and then he won the title twice after that in the same decade. Foreman over Lewis is an interesting choice, indeed.

You definitely have me thinking though, my friend...

You really do have some thought-provoking writings here, enough so I don't want to answer right off for fear I might look defensive or unschooled.

    Very cool ideas.

Foreman, all day money. In fact, if not for Ali I daresay Foreman might have held the title until Young took it away (but then Young loses to Norton, who loses to Holmes).

Norton did get a gift against Young. And I do think there's truth to your words about George's psych breakdown...he never looked the way he did against Norton and Frazier again (I could be wrong).

I thought he definitely won that Ali fight...but overall I didn't think either of them looked too great (the Young who beat Foreman looked like a better fighter imo).

I might be forgetting another fight or three he got robbed on, forgive me if so.
