    Harry Greb 260-19-19
    Willie Pep 229-11-1
    Archie Moore 185-23-11
    Benny Leonard 183-19-11
    Sugar Ray Robinson 173-19-6

I got these from boxrec's p4p all-time top 100 list. Harry Greb not only has the best record, but he beat 7 guys who are on the list. I wonder why boxrec don't have him in the top spot p4p. He fought all comers, black or white.

Damn all those guys had a lot of Fights. I wish the fighters of today would fight at least 4
times a year instead of the 2..... or 3 if your lucky

Best post of the day. Especially in the case of Greb (I was looking at his record and trying to find the longest amount of time he 'had off' between fights!) it makes you realise how much health and safety rules the sport now- that's not a bad thing either, IMO.

Safety is not a bad thing, but today it's pure paranoia. Guys like Pavlik and Abraham fight 2 or 3 times a year: Greb fought 2 or 3 times a month!

Harry Greb died in a car accident at the age of 32, when he was preparing for a revenge match against Tiger Flowers, who had just stripped him of his MW titleon a dubious decision. Otherwise, he was in good health.

Women and liquor were part of his training regime.

Also it was reported shortly after Greb's death that he had been blind in his right eye for over five years,if thats true it means he fought more than 90 times with only one eye.

Admittedly, I don't know a lot about the likes of Greb, Benny Leonard etc. but I will be spending time in the future learning about such highly regarded fighters.

Most I could find was two weeks but there may be a longer break in there- let's face it, there is a lot to look through!

Well this is most wins- an '0' doesn't mean everything- although for some reason everyone is mad on them in this era.

A bit off topic but here's Britain's favourite journeyman Peter Buckley. Wins weren't his speciality but he's been a fantastic ambassador for British boxing and is a legend. Everyone have a look at his record:

:goodA fighter can gain a lot by losing anyway- if anything it shows the lack of competition around and if you come back stronger it shows how good a champ you actually are, IMO. This is a time of self-importance, though, where people only care more about their own image rather than legacy (not all fighters I might add).

Marciano had a great career with wins over Ezzard Charles, Joe Walcott, Archie Moore, Rex Layne, Kid Matthews, and (a shot) Joe Louis.

But Greb has wins over champions like Mickey Walker, Tommy Gibbons, Mike Gibbons, Gene Tunney, Tiger Flowers, Tommy Loughran, Battling Levinsky, Johnny Wilson, and Willie Meehan (outweighed by 32 lbs!).

Most of his losses were also to the above fighters, though. Mike O'Dowd beat him by UD and never gave him a rematch. But then Johnny Wilson beat O'Dowd, and Greb took the title back from Wilson (beating him 3 times out of 3).
