It seems to be a bit of an obvious topic so i apologise if this has been done recently. But i havent come across a thread about this on ESB before.

Who in your opinion is the best trainer in the world right now?
I implore fanboys to vote honsetly and not just vote for your guys trainer!
I.e. pac fans dont just mindlessly vote for pac. floyd fans dont mindlessly vote for roger may etc.

I know it really depends on a fighters strengths/weaknesses and personality as to who would be the best trainer for them. But in terms of perparing a fighter and in fight tactics, who would you give the egde to?

Im sure ive missed out a couple great trainers so please specify who you mean if you vote other.

You know even though id hate to admit it simply due to his personality, Roach pretty much is the complete package.
-He has a nice stable of sparring partners
-Ariza seems to really know what hes doing when it comes to nutrition and making weight efficiently
-His gameplans have been very successful and last but not least, he is probably the best strategist when it comes to choosing an opponent

Roach, he makes an offensive but dumb fighter into a real threat given enough time

Roach. Like Nazim too, and Floyd sr. But Roach is a cut above.

Freddy Roach and Richardson, take your pick.

If your a technically inferior fighter, and have been for years, but managed to get by to a degree, its going to be hard for ANY trainer to iron out all your fundamental flaws, so the next best thing to have, is a good strategist, someone who isn't going to try to change you too much, but someone who is going to build an effective game plan around your strengths/weaknesses, and both these two are good strategists.

    I also like Barry Hunter.

Also, I think that the dude who trains Martinez in the shades is worth a shout. Martinez' achievements, for someone who got into the sport very very late, speak for themselves. Plus, not half bad jobs with Cayo and the boy who deserved a nod over Zab in his last fight, I felt.

It's hard to go against Roach considering all the success he's had lately. Pacquiao is his masterpiece but he's really doing a tremendous job with Khan.

Nacho is my personal favourite though - I love watching his guys fight. Lopez and Marquez are just textbook, near-perfect fighters. I love the job he did with Rafa most of all. He took a slightly raw fighter, too dependant on his right-hand power, and developed him into a really well-rounded fighter.

It's worth mentioning also that he took Daniel Zaragoza, no-one's idea of a great natural talent, into the HOF.

Interesting that you say that. Didn't Rafa leave Nacho because he thought he was spending too much time on JMM's career and not his?

Yeah. From what I understand, that was a fairly recent development. Over the past couple of years, it appears that Nacho has been dedicating the majority of his time to Juan for whatever reason.

It did surprise me when I heard that though, since he has been with Rafa for such a long time.

I have to give Nacho credit though because Rafa's improvement happened under his tutelage.

Roach...I like that he doesn't change your fighting style but he improves you with it.
Old school plus new school types of training isa big big bonus.

    I like Roach and Nacho.

Roach improves what is there and always has a solid game plan. With ODLH he made a less talented declining competitive with a younger peak ATG. But the biggest is that Roach has a stable that is successful beyond Pac.

Nacho is old school with also a stable that is successful beyond JMM.

Steward is awesome but his best work all have retired. Ask this 20-30 years ago and it wont even be a contest.

The Mayweathers coaching success is limited. Beyond PBF, it is hard to say that they are in the same level as Roach, Nacho and Steward. The Hatton vs Pac results where embarrassing. They could be elite, but there is just not enough evidence to say either or.
