I'd never have thought to mention Holmes as a great finisher. But come to think of it a mention of him in a thread like this isn't too out of place. I wouldn't have him in the top 10, though, by a long shot.

When Tony Zale got you going, you were dead meat...great killer instinct he had.

I'd have to put Hearns up there. Once the guy was hurt, it was just a non-stop fusillade of feints, jabs, and power punches until the guy dropped. His demolition of Duran is perhaps the best example of this, but the Cuevas fight is also brutal.

True. If Ali had somebody going,he'd finish the job. The Ron Lyle fight is the first example that comes to mind.

Ricardo Lopez deserves a mention. Whenever he got a guy ready to go they sure didn't slip thru the cracks.
Monzon was another. Not flashy by any means but if a guy got hurt or busted up that was the end of the proceedings. Same with Bob Foster. Wilfredo Gomez sure knew what to do when he got a guy ready to go & they were fortunate if they could get out of that round.

:good That was a great finish!! Imo a "Prime" Iron Mike was as lethal a finisher as anyone, ever. Ray Leonard was also a brutal destroyer once he had you as was Joe Louis. Archie Moore was also a fantastic finisher, so was Ray Robinson. There have been some some truly fantastic finishers in the sport of boxing but those five are wonderful examples of great fighters who possessed the "Killer instinct".

:good All the above were superb finishers! I particularly enjoyed watching Monzon go to work!! As you say, no flash but if you were in trouble you weren't going to make the end of the round!

Joe Calzaghe, he stopped fighters without even needing to hurt them.
