Best amateur gym in London?

    Which is best? Ive heard Repton is good, where abouts in London is that?

    Im moving soon to probably west/south west/north west London. Possibly Kensington area. Yes im a novice, done some training before but never had a fight. Whats would you recomend.

    Isn't the bethnal green club full of elite level amatuers? or did i just make that up in my head lol.

    Yes it is, and a bit crowded. Want great Sparring thats the place to go if Elite. Novices I think not, they dont seem to be given the time or coaching.

    west ham and repton are the best in london but they dont take on beginners, try peacock abc

    very nice gym, too 'new school' for my liking though, i like the old back alley rough gyms.

    Why do you like rough gyms? Surely the better the quality the better?

    If it smells like sweat when you walk in you know it's good.

    It looks too big, clean (lol) and comercial for my tastes but if the coachings good it doesn't really matter.

    The best place i ever trained was in my home town and it was cheap £1 a go and the trainers did it because they loved the sport they didn't get any wages out of it but they all knew their **** and yes it was above a social club so after training time for a drink :D

    most of the nicer looking gyms are more expensive to use, usually it is a business

    now take west ham or repton for example, they charge £40 a year and you get to train there as much as you like, the coaches dont get paid they do it because they want to.

    I absolutely hate clean and modern gyms. To me the word gym means old and reeking of sweat.
