Can definitely see an argument. Nobody had more speed. But in terms of era Manny had more p4p power and stamina. If you want to go back so did Robinson.
Klitschko, Golovkin, Cotto, etc. Etc. What says one fighter is a better athlete than the other. Say who is more athletic between those 3?
atsch No volume punches. No footwork. No combinations. No angles. This content is protected The only thing Manny brought to the figth were excuses and acne. FACT!
Floyd isn't that special outside of boxing. come on, half the guys in this forum could whoop his **** one on one basketball, football or tennis. in fact - I'm pretty sure i could beat floyd at every sport, other than middle distance running.
athlete i think of someone who has strength, speed and co-ordination - roy was that dude before. manny has that kind of special athleticism - but is too small for it to transfer, and not especially cooridinated at ball sports. Honestly- i know people will scoff- but it has to be anthony mundine. he s only a middling boxing talent- but the man was bona fide elite at rugby league- as in representative for the country elite, not just professional- as well as was offered a pro basketball contract at local national league at 18 as well. i remember seeing him playing ball at a local court as a kid- and he was throwing down 360 dunks like it was nobodies business. I'm sure that man could have been pro at least 5 sports if he put the time to it.
by the way I'm played state level basketball, and rep level tennis and squash. have swam every week since i was 16. just cos u suck at sports dosent mean everyone else here does.
It's really hard to put a finger on who's the most athletic boxer because as someone stated already it's synonymous with boxing, or any other sport for thy matter. But as it applies to boxing, I'm assuming you mean boxers who may have not been techically sound and depend(ed) more on natural ability than actual skill. If his is what you mean than RJJ comes to mind. To me there was nothing textbook about how he fought and seemed to depend more on his natural athletic ability, Pacquiao also come to mind, Aaron Pryor as well.
Floyd does 40 pull ups and does roadwork at 2 am. Sorry you are not more dedicated than him. He's a world class athlete.
Mayweather is a great athlete. Judah was slightly better, his technique, footwork, strategy was not on the same level though. RJJ is definitely the best athlete in the history of boxing IMO. Ali was a better athlete than SRR by far.
Roy Jones is the best athlete i have ever seen in boxing. Speed was just absurd. I'd say Mayweather is a better athlete than Judah, though. Speed was close, but Floyd is much better conditioned, has a better boxing body (length/reach), and superior reflexes.
Mundine is a terrific call. He's up there in age now though so not as athletic as he once was. Like with pretty much every sport (including boxing) you can pretty much rule out all the sub 140 midgets. They don't count as real athletes when an average guy at 200+ could just pummel them at everything. Deontay Wilder looks a decent athlete speed and power wise. Chris Eubank jr is built like a great athlete but maybe a bit cumbersome. Can't think of anyone better than mundine tbf.
