I can't say best and only go back to the 80s in my knowledge but a couple are in that context Mike Mccallum Julio Chavez Duran was pretty good to the body also I'm sure others will have more
Some of the first names that came to mind Chavez, McCallum, Zale, Arguello, Duran, Frazier, Olivares, Whitaker All things taken into account, Chavez was probably the all-around best bodypuncher I've ever seen.
Armstrong is a good choice. People are probably going with the Duran's and Chavez's based on they have seen more of those types.
Duran is a very good choice, the first Leonard bout was one where he really showed his greatness in this department. Robinson was great at going downstairs also, when guys tried to clutch he just rapped away with them. Obviously we have Chavez, Ortiz is one not being mentioned much, when he committed to a body attack along the ropes there was nothin down for his opponents. Im trying to think...... Whitaker was good at working the body, modern day ones are obviously Hatton, and imo Margarito, the way that left digs in to the ribs, looks sickening! Also, maybe not great, but Mosley hits the body hard and invests in it more than people think, when he's in range he gets them. And lets not forget....... This content is protected
the most devoted body puncher that i have seen was julio caeser chavez and vassily jirov. jirov was a very commited body puncher.
Mikey WALKER WENT TO THE BODY WELL...DURAN...MIKE McCALLUM.... Jake Lamotta....Dempsey especially the heart and rib cage......Frazier...Marciano...Armstrong....James Toney(he learned from Dave Tiberi who gave him a body trashing)
Nothing to do with body punching at all. But I think Marciano had a great and underappreciated left uppercut.
