I thought Campillo had some good body punching last night :deal Qawi also dug to the body beautifully.
Chavez, Duran, Frazier, McCallum, to name a few. My favorite display of bodypunching is Eddie Mustafa Muhammad against Marvin Johnson. He destroyed poor Marvin to the body, particularly getting in that left hook.
Very good lists going - I would like to add Tony Zale and Lupe Pintor... Hopkins can also be brutal to the body as Del La Hoya can confirm...
vassiliy jirov has to the best, if not one of the best in the past 20 years. recently the guy in my avatar vernon paris is great at attacking the body
Chavez McCallum Duran Fraizer Arguello Chavez' body attack against Rosario is the greatest display of breaking a fighter down with body punching in modern times IMO.
Frazier is the best body puncher of all time IMO, mostly built around that murderous, versatile and persistent left hook to the kidney
Not really a good call for best, but just an outside pick: Ike Ibeabuchi was developing into a mean body puncher. Actually, when people talk about him as a prospect, what I really saw was the best body punching heavyweight fighter since Tyson. He had a lot of technical work to do, but I wish I could have seen him take it downstairs consistently against a real world class fighter. That would have been the litmus test.
All good shout-outs. I'm going to post footage of a fighter most don't readily think about in terms of effective body punching, but was damn good at it when he wanted to be: [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7tdS5FYpg-8[/ame] Never get tired of watching that.
Bob Fitzsimmons- accomplished the single greatest feat of body punching in history when he won the heavyweight championship of the world with a body shot. Tony Zale Roberto Duran Mike McCallum Julio Cesar Chavez Frank Klaus Billy Petrolle Ace Hudkins
