Robin Givens was a gold digger. But she was also an attractive, articulate, intelligent young lady who could have probably netted other rich guys. You gets what you pay for. This is how the world works. No one put a gun to Tyson's head and made him marry her. He could have sent her on her way and let her end up with a wrinkly old rich guy or whatever.

It's actually funny how Tyson was sucker enough to fall for it. Or perhaps he knew what he was getting into and didn't care enough. Or perhaps he was advised by his handlers to marry the girl. A media-savvy marriage, good for the image, good for the brand. Either way he wanted it.

I find the false "sympathy" stories for young Tyson pathetic. On the one he's supposed to be this streetwise kid from a land of hustlers, pimps, gangsters and robbers, exposed to hard realities from his earliest years. On the other he's this poor naive fool and Givens and her mother are evil witches who just came along and put some womanly spell on him and fleeced him.

People should show Mike Tyson some respect and stop indulging such nonsense. He was a champion and a man. It demeans him to indulge him as the "victim". He wasn't feeble.

It's nonsense. Those women weren't evil, they were just doing what they do. Trying to get ahead. I'm sure Mike Tyson deceived a few females in his time to get what he was after too.

Robin Givens was a gold digger but she was desirable in many ways, therefore plenty of wealthy guys would have gone for her, and under no real illusions that she was interested only in money. That's how it works. It's a trade off.

 

If you people truly believe Mike Tyson, heavyweight champion of the world, should have "knocked Givens' and her mom's teeth out" ... and that would have been the just thing to do .... again, we're coming from completely different moral positions.
