Henry Cooper Jimmy watt Marv hagler George Foreman. Bobby cyzyz The above were very good Most other fighters have been poor commentators. Mcguigan was whiny.Lewis boring.
I've stated before that O'Grady is one of my very faves. I really like Manny Steward, also. I miss his commentary more than any other.
No Scully? I thought that he did a good job. Having done it for a long time they will know worlds about the sport that you never will know.
Broadcasting is about communicating and being enjoyable about it, considering this is a sport that is meant ot entertain the viewers, a guy that has a big ego will rub the viewers the wrong way.
It's not his fault that your boxing experiences were only from when you were playing video games. Those guys know it first hand and speak from that knowledge. You should listen and take it in.
It is his fault if he don´t understand how broadcasting works.. boxing is just a pastime for 99%$ of the viewers, don´t bore them and we all make more money.
I never figured that out, I thought George would have been rooting for the old guy in there LOL. I've seen some people suggest that he favored Trinidad because he was a puncher, I have no idea if that's true or not. I've always enjoyed listening to George though, he was usually entertaining and funny without meaning to be. He also had a very good sense of where a fight was heading, usually. I think Sean O'Grady was probably the best, he looked and sounded like he was groomed for that type of work, one probably wouldn't guess he was a professional prize fighter.
I used to like McGuigan alongside Mason and Duke McKenzie on sky sports, gave off a cost vibe, happy memories, RIP Gary Mason.
Agree 100% on Ken Norton--gave solid insights and never tried to hog the spotlight. Always enjoyed having him on the call!
Sean "The Champ" O'Grady was the most fun to hear announcing. Lennox "Marble Mouth" Lewis was the all time worst; started out bad and never improved.
This isn't the first time I've heard somebody complain about him, I always thought he was okay but maybe I just never noticed, what's so bad about his commentary?
