Actually, it has already happened. I don't believe that a MMA guy crossed over to boxing, but on top of my head, Ray Mercer and James Toney both did cross over to the MMA scene. Also, there was Art Jimmerson in UFC 1.

Ray mercer won against Tim Silvia because the latter taught he could get away with stand up,but lost against Kimbo Slice by guillotine choke... Same with Toney, went against Randy Couture, the latter went to the ground immediately.

    Everything is on youtube.

Simple as this look at Sylvia-Mercer give the boxer 1 secound in punching range and you probably get KTFO or like Toney-Couture the MMA fighter doesnt take the chances and chokes the boxer out quickly. Thats pretty much how it will go everytime standup and you get KOed, take it down u get the sub.

And Tim Sylvia has lost a fight inside the 1st minute atleast 4 or 5 times if memory serves. But hardcore boxing fans are to busy making 'homos in tap out t-shirts' jokes to do a tiny bit of research. That fight proved nothing except dangle your chin out in front of a good puncher like Mercher and it's good night

Gonzaga didn't try and engage in grappling with Schaub for some odd reason. As soon as he did he almost tapped him in about 3 seconds.

It must be fun to be naive.

    Or just ridiculously stupid.

I believe people who have their base as strikers have a style disavantage in mma, they really need to get good at wrestling to fight standing even if they are good they are always at a treat of a takedown and that takes away from their striking,by the way most of my favourite guys are strikers,Igor Vovchanchyn,Mirko Filipovic and others.

Another point I saw brought here, actually Pride was dominated by grapplers,Igor Vovchanchyn(striker)Mark Kerr,
Mark Coleman who by the way used the knee a lot on the ground,Nogueira and then Fedor, then came the time of the "big three" Fedor,Nogueira and Mirko(striker).
Middle weight it was Sakuraba and then Wanderlei(striker).
