I haven't read a lot of boxing bio's but I decided to start with the old timers, ie Jack Johnson and Jack Dempsey because you get a flavour of the times as well. Dempsey riding the rails, the riots after Johnson's win over Jeffries, it's interesting stuff. Also during Dempsey's rein you see boxing at it's pinacle, where statiums are build to house 100,000 fight fans and he's a bigger name that Ruth. And you have the legendary long count.

And in Jack Johnson's case you have all those great white hopes and Johnson being forced to flee the country, because of the Mann Act. To the average citizen back then, it was bad enough he won the heavyweight title, a black man.

But winning the title and hanging out with white women, well that's when all hell broke loose.

I've read countless, but 'Hands Of Stone' is one I actually remember.
