I am bout to go buy something and need a recommendation. The only one I read is the Hauser book on Ali and Fight Town-a book about the history of the fight game in vegas, both books were great.
I know this isn't boxing, but read 48 Laws of power. That's the best book I picked up and I hate reading
The most engaging and entertaining boxing book I've read is Teddy Atlas autobio. Whether you like him or not its an entertaining, informative read that you will definitely take something valuable from.
A Flame of Pure Fire, Roger Kahn's book about Jack Dempsey is excellent. If you like interviews with old time fighters from the early 1900s through the 60s, check out "In This Corner" with Peter Heller. If you like well-researched books on fighter's career's check out Adam Pollack's series on the HW champions. There are many others I could name, but these are some that come to mind.
Obviously the number 1 boxing book of all time is the classic 'Realising the dream, the Audley Harrison story' Beyond that my favs are A.J Liebling - The Sweet Science Donald McRae - Dark Trade (****ing awesome 90's fighters book) Norman Mailer - The Fight John Duncan- In The Red Corner (bloke takes money of Frank Warren and pisses around in Cuba) Nick Tosches - Night Train (decent Sonny Liston read) Michael Watson - The Biggest Fight (glosses over some of his naughtier times but heart wrenching none the less) Thomas Hauser - Muhammad Ali, His Life and Times (personally think this is the best Ali book) Smokin Joes training book is also pretty cool Try those for starters
Bertram Job - "Boxing"...that's something worth read! I also like Lewis Erenberg's "The Greatest Fight Of Our Generation - Lewis vs. Schmeling"
