Looking to get some more boxing books into my collection. What ones would you recommend - my top 3 are The Sweet Science by AJ Liebling, The Gods Of War by Springs Toledo and Dark Trade: Lost In Boxing by Don McRae. Looking forward to seeing what everyone else recommends

Christian Giudice's books on Duran and Arguello are top reads. Dark Trade was a good one as well.

'The Hate Game', 'War and Peace'. These two are really good.

Totally agree about 'Dark Trade' - Best boxing book I've read. Very well written and an interesting insight into a great era. Plenty of stuff about Toney, Tyson etc. and researched very well on a personal level. People seemed to really open up to him. I can't recommend it highly enough.

Four Kings is the obvious choice if you haven't read it though...

I'd seriously recommend 'The soul of a butterfly' by Muhammad Ali and his daughter.

Whats the name of the book about journeymen? Id love to read about the ins and outs and difficulties faced by journeymen, they dont get the recognition they deserve

The books on Benny lynch and Jackie turpin are among the best I've read.wee Benny's fall from hero to zero was fast and brutal even by bookings standard.
The turpin book was sad, funny and patriotic in equal measures.

a lot of Boxing Bio's are **** really, some obviously aren't, but the ones that try to give you visual feel and awareness for the actual fighters and period and place do it best.

    the Rochdale Thunderbolt
    the Prince of Boxers
    Men of Steel
    Facing Ali

are all among the best I have read.
