Ok so I had a quick look at my book collection and noticed I have no books on boxing! So I had a quick look online but there was so many I could have hundreds of pounds in the space of 5 mins. So just to get an idea, I was wondering what is your favourite boxing book, and which you would recommended. I hear the ODLH 1 is a good read. Any others that are a must have for a diehard fan? Cheers guys
I didnt like the ODLH one to be honest. First ones I really liked were Hands of Stone and Four Kings, about Duran and then Duran/Leonard/Hagler/Hearns. Great reads.
Duran - Hands of Stone La Motta - Raging Bull Jack Johnson - Unforgivable Blackness Teddy Atlas Bio Hearns Bio Four Kings Larry Holmes Bio
Boxing: Confedential is excellent too, tells you everything behind the scenes from dealings with the mob etc
the fighting irish is one of the best boxing books you can get it doesnt just go over the history of irish fighters but the entire history of the sport
The Boxing Register is the place to start. Covers all of the fighters in the Hall of Fame and gives bios for each.
Black Lights by Thomas Hauser is excellent: [ame]http://www.amazon.co.uk/Black-Lights-Inside-Professional-Boxing/dp/0330304798/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1290463282&sr=1-7[/ame] The Fixer by Steve Bunce is good as well and perfect Christmas present.
Another great one for everything generally in boxing is The Ulitmate Encyclopedia of Boxing by Harry Mullan and Bob Mee. It covers everything about the sport with short biographies of hundreds of world champions, coverage of the greatest fights in of all time, the early history of boxing, history of all the world titles and plenty of trivia about the sport. Best boxing book ive ever bought id say
