I am not old enough to remember the glory days of boxing but i can remember some great cards being put on in the 90's. whats the best card that you can remember? in the early 1990's, don king, arum and the duva's used to put on some fantastic cards with over 4 or 5 interesting matchups. i remember one king card. it had chavez against taylor the rematch. trinidad v campas ( a classic slugfest). frankie randall. ruelas vs leija. ricardo lopez. i think julian jackson was on it is well if boxing had more cards like that, it would well become a mainstream sport again.
Cooney vs Holmes in 1982 had Wilfredo Gomez, Trevor Berbick, Greg Page, James Tillis, Earnie Shavers, Mitch "Blood" Green and Murray Sutherland on the card. All future champions or legitimate championship contenders.
Thank's bro i remember seeing it with my dad and his friend's and my uncle's i was like 9 or 10 year's old i miss those day's:good
There has been a bunch that were phenominal from back in the day that I am sure everyone will mention...but because having a great card is such a rarity these days, Id like to throw out the best one from the past few years (hands down actually). Don King's NIGHT OF CHAMPIONS!!! Spinks - Mayorga - WBC, WBA, IBF WW titles. Ruiz - Rahman - WBA HW title. Judah - Rangal - WBO JWW title. Perez - Machado - IBF SFW title. Braithwaite - Pineda - WBC CW title. Alvarez - Burgos - IBF, WBA JFW titles. Simms - Garcia - WBA JMW title. Hopkins - Joppy - WBC, WBA, IBF MW titles Say what you want about King...but dammit that was one hell of a card.
Off the top of my head the best one in Britain in recent times was at Cardiff Castle Joe Calzaghe v Miguel Angel Jimenez Daniel Santos v Mehrdud Takaloo Joan Guzman v Fabio Daniel Oliva Neil Sinclair v Dmitry Kashkan Ted Bami v Bradley Pryce Valery Odin v Nathan King Wayne Elcock v Ojay Abrahams Enzo Maccarinelli v Tony Booth Jeff Lacy v Jason Collins Alex Arthur v Pavel Potipko Gavin Rees v Sergey Andreychikov Henry Castle v Joel Viney 7 world champs (either current or future at the time)
what was the last good card that you can remember. one that was well worth shelling out a few bucks to be ringside. i don't mean one with an exciting main event
pavlik v taylor 2 in feb was good: mijares v navarro montiel v castillo ronald hearns brian viloria v lopez and teh main course was a ******* is well. i would of paid good money to be ringside for that
