Manchester is more often than not chosen to host the big shows over in the UK at the MEN Arena. As previously mentioned have a lot of quality fighters active and retired, and 2 of the best trainers around in Farnell and Gallagher, as well as other good ones.
Holy family is the best gym in Belfast by far! It's produced commonwealth, European, Olympic, youth Olympic and world junior medalist! Also has produced more Irish and Ulster senior champions than the mac or holy trinity. Ps Belfast is the best boxing city in the UK and Ireland. For such a small place it just keeps churning out champions and it has the best and loudest fans in the world... FACT!!!
Yourself excluded, why do you think all the good Belfast boxers are Catholic? (No sectarian antagonism, genuine question)
I don't think hosting big fight really matters when discussing the best boxing city. Vegas hosts the biggest events in the world but it doesn't produce any boxers. It's a close one between Liverpool and London, with Belfast not too far behind.
Wayne McCullough, Ray Close, John Lowey, Neil Sinclair, Jimmy Warnock, Billy Warnock and the best ever from this island Jimmy McLarnin
Glasgow is historically a fantastic city for boxing but Cardiff and surrounding area or south wales valleys **** all over it for every Benny Lynch we have a Jimmy Wilde for every Harrison we have a Jim Driscoll , what area has produced a heavy like Tommy Farr ? Lmao south Wales pisses all over any other place region , the original poster Moorser is just showing his a lack of respect by not including Cardiff and surrounding area in the poll , Limerick ffs lol stab city don't even hold a candle to a little city here like Newport lmao
excuse my ignorance of cardiff boxing i want being disrespectful just not fully clued up on the cardiff scene . Limerick isnt the strongest boxing city but for a city with only 100,000 population it has produced good boxes like andy lee and willie casey and also holds some great boxing nights like the upcoming european title fight between casey and martinez
Over the last decade or so it's Manchester, but different cities have held and will hold the mantle again.
Moorsey , Please excuse my knocking of a fine town like Limerick ( one of the finest places iv'e ever been. how is my old mate Mr Clossey "O'claw" and his beautiful wife Btw ) ? but as a Welshman to see my whole country and it's efforts excluded was a bit of a bummer for the likes of me . :good
