I read once the boxing short stories by Jack London. The Game, A Piece of Steak, The Mexican and The Abysmal Brute. The stories were quite good and exciting. Otherwise I have just read biographies and non-fiction books about boxing.

    Corner Men.
    By Ronald K.Fried

It's short profiles of the greatest trainers. It.might be my favorite boxing book. I've had it 31 years. I could pick it up right now and not only enjoy it but catch something new..
That book is like having an old friend.

probably the Best Boxing Book I ever read, was "Facing Ali" - accounts of fighting him, from the perspective of the Opponent(s), about 12 different ones.

    a great boxing book.

Magnificent book. I got it the same time as you. I bought it for my Nephew, a trainer, 4 years ago. Wasn't cheap. He quotes it now.

George Plimpton's, "Shadow Box", is wonderful. George boxed an exhibition with Archie Moore, stuck to Ali like a shadow and socialised with Hemingway and Mailer.
The chapter on the Atlanta heist during the Ali - Quarry fight which ends up with him interviewing the Denzel Washington Character from, "American Gangster", in jail, is worth whatever you wind up paying for the book.

In the Red Corner by John Duncan

Duncan goes to Cuba to try arrange a Tyson/Savon fight.

    SPOILER

    He does not succeed!

But what you get is interviews with Savon, Stevenson et al, as Duncan dives into Cuban boxing history of the Castro era (and bits and pieces pre Revolution), while he follows Felix's attempt for another Cuban title.
