My pick is Lennox Lewis, the man simply had it all, great defense and can do it all on offense and had one punch KO power. IMO he is the greeatest heavyweight in a H2H sense.

    Joe Louis.

You could mention the likes of Ezzard Charles, but I think the purpose of the thread is pure heavyweights.

    Louis, Holmes and Lewis.

All highly skilled, on the traditional sense, beatiful textbook punches.

    Surprised Holyfield hasn't been mentioned.

    I'll go for Holmes.

Chris Byrd had great boxing skills, he had nothing of a heavyweight but still could compete with his skills alone.

skillwise patterson was pretty good and i'll go as far as to say 80's prime tyson was a protege of patterson, but with a better chin and better punch. they both had the same trainer. probably a step higher than tyson i'd have to give it to holyfield or lennox, who were both great inside and outside fighters of the highest level in their primes. i always thought moorer was pretty skillful in his prime as both a cruiser and heavyweight in his prime. has he not gotten confident vs. big george he would of won that fight by shutout. he also would of outboxed tua and would of landed some clean shots off of tua just to humble him and win by decision, but moorer always had that bad rep of undertraining and underachieving

Agreed. I'd take Joe Louis slightly ahead of Holmes though.

    Wlad Klitschko & Lennox Lewis

Vitali has a very strange, but very effective style.
