Strained a slightly torn meniscus (that I got 25-years-ago training for marathons, 'n rolled the dice not to operate) by pushing distance too quickly on my daily walk.

Wanna avoid surgery. Any brace NFL QBs use to eliminate the stress?

A neoprene support will keep it a little tighter and keep the joint warm, I highly reccommend them. Whatever you want to spend your money on. Amazon has some!

First, thanks for gettin' back,MS. Have tried a variety of braces with metal hinges on both sides of the knee, plus plain neoprene sleeves, n jerry-rigged other braces and elastics, but none do the job.

Was hoping some state-of-the-art QB brace would be the Holy Grail.

Braces won't do much, you need to ice it regularly, 10 minutes at a time, and keep weight off it, let it recover. Braces/supports are just icing on the cake. Are you taking some fish oil supplements? Or you old timers chug that straight from the bottle? Always good for joint support.

think of it this way, the brace is a painkiller, the active recovery stuff is the surgery to actually fix it.

Was banking that a brace (however expensive) would be the solution, MS. So your input here has taken some of the wind outta my sails.

Iced the knee regularly for weeks; 'n it did numb it for a brief time, but it wore-off quickly, 'n it throbs all the time (like a tooth ache) -- no matter what pain killers i take -- even when I'm at rest.

Will look into fish oil; and still hope a QB brace is my Hail Mary.

At 76, surgery is very dicey

Are you taking Glucosmine-chondroitin, if not you should plus there are Stretches that are helpful.
