This is a tough one. My contenders for the honour would be Bob Fitzimmons,Ted Lewis,Jack Berg,Randy Turpin,Ken Buchanan,John Conteh and Lennox Lewis. I've probably forgotten loads others !
If Bob Fitzsimmons is considered to be British (and it's debateable I guess) then it's him. If it's not him it's Wilde, with all things considered. Ken Buchanan may be the most talented.
Fitz (again if considered a Brit) is definitly number 1 then probably Wilde then my fellow scot Buchanan
Sweet Pea as far as i know Fitz was born in Cornwall and Barbados Joe Walcott was born in Barbados i think Fitz could qualify as British fighter from being born in Britain. Walcott was part of the empire that dosent really count IMO
Look up "British boxers" on Wiki and he's listed among them. Why don't we get an exact criteria down for what qualifies?
fair enough Pea as he was part of the British Empire Id say a British Fighter is one from the British Isles (Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England)
I would not really count Fitzsimmons, so the answer is pretty simple, The Mighty Atom, Jimmy Wilde by a country mile; Kid Lewis and Berg probably battling it out for second and third.
