Calzaghe- Made 20 defences (most with bogus WBO title) never fought outside Europe), never fought a P4P fighter. Wel Marketed by F.Warren, cashing in on his Itlalian gd looks and flashy southpaw style. Beat some excellent though not great opposition. Taken advantage of the weakest division in bosing for the past 10 years. Hatton- Fought and beat the best in the 140lb division, beat to HOFers in TszYU (who was P4P no:3 at the time). fought several fights in the US against very repsectable oppositions outside his natural 140 division. Not the most talented on this list, but deserves the most props for fighting the best opposition and succeeding all but once vs the Floyd. David Haye: Ultra Talented, Ruthless Puncher Fearless about where he fights. Dethroned the great Mormeck on his "own" turf, Enzo Blown away. These wins backed up by some excellent wins vs Alexander Gurov (KO 1) and Frogomenni (KO9). Wish there were more fighters willing to take these risks. He has blossomed under his own Management, hence getting the risk fights, something he ould never have got if he was in Frank Warrens stable. Jr Witter. - Fought and beat most of the best Lt Welter Contenders, would give Hatton a tough fight, but after seeing him struggle againt Ndou and Kotelink, cant see him beating Ricky. So...My best British fighters are as follows: 1. Hatton 2/3. Haye/Calzaghe- either way 4.Witter
David Haye is No.1 for me as Calzaghe is slightly on the slide though still could enough to beat oldman Hopkins. Hatton 3rd after Haye and Calzaghe.
My Point in putting Hatton No:1 is the guy has tested him self at the absolute TOP. He has fought the sternest opposition. When he goes to his grave he can say to himself he left no stone un turned. I still fancy Hatton to beat everyone at 140lbs. Hes a monster at 140lbs. The guy lost to a phenom, Do you think Calzaghe would beat a prime Roy Jones or even a prime Hopkins?
Haye and Calzaghe are the big 2 After that there is Witter and Hatton Then Khan, Froch, AAA and Moore Then Enzo, Woods, Macklin, Thaxton, Mitchell and many more -- Im actually a fan of that raver Anthony Small, slick boxer
1)Calzaghe 2)Hatton 3)Haye(he would be no.1 if he stayed in the Cruiserweight, however since he hasen't fought in HW yet, i will put him no.3)
Hes not really all that active. I hought he was hanging them up not so long ago, but you have a point Obviously if he beats Tarver things will be different
The best British fighter is definitely Joe Calzaghe, far above the others. Honorable mention to Woods, Hatton and Haye. Lots of other good fighters in Britain such as Arthur, Witter, Rees and Khan.
I can't take anybody that thinks Hatton is the best British boxer seriously. Go and watch some boxing.
