This is probably the division that the brits have made the most noise in historically... and this is how I rate the top 5 incumbents:

    1. Calzaghe
    2. Froch
    3. Eubank
    4. Benn
    5. Collins

What would Froch have to do to overtake Calzaghe at no. 1?

    I agree with your list.

I think Joe Cal always ranks above Carl, because he was recognised as the undisputed number one. People will also always factor in H2H in these things, and it's apparent (to me atleast) that Joe would have the beating of Carl.

You need Michael Watson in there - he owned Benn in thier fight and Benn was at his undefgeated dark destroyer peak , he fought a brave 11 rounds against the body snatcher Mike Mccallum and I thought he did enough in the 1st Eubank fight at earls court - and in the ill fated 2nd fight at white hart lane he beat the **** out of Eubank for 10 rounds , dropped him in the 11th before being dropped himself by Chris's huge right uppercut .

The man had bucket loads of talent , heart and potential - who knows what he would have done in the game if not for that uppercut.

I cant really see froch overtaking calzaghe unless he beats kessler and beat ward in a rematch( which he cant do)

I agree with you , also when Watson fought the body snatcher he`d had the flu and wasnt right, McCallum said he could tell Watson wasnt right. Watson didnt think he should fight McCallum, but Hearn Watsons promoter encouraged Watson to fight. McCallum came out and said he was lucky he didnt have to fight Watson on their original date as watson was at his sharpest, then the nose injury in sparring came....
The Watson that fought eubank in the 2nd fight would give any SMW hell!!

I bet if the bodysnatcher was asked who he`d think would win a fight between Watson and Jones Jr at their best he`d go for Watson.

I agree with the list but would place Froch a little lower, I think we can agree Joe is the most adaptable fighter of the lot, with the others all having certain limitations against elite opposition, I really think the others are interchangeable depending on your own criteria, the fact remains Froch is still active, therefore can separate himself from the "rest", can he catch Joe?

It's pretty hard because I don't think he has the adaptability to beat Ward and be the man.
