I remember Ward having a broken hand after Froch. I also remember Ward saying that Bute needed to fight a world class fighter to get in the ring with him. Bute fought Froch, and dutifully got the **** beaten out of him. Proving Ward right
I'd favour Ward over everyone from 160-175. If I had to pick someone, it'd be either Golovkin or Froch. Given how Ward handled Carl in their first fight, the only justification I have for choosing him is that he's probably the second-best guy from 168-175. GGG is obviously untested at this level but he has skill, severe power, killer body-shots and is a finisher. Whether those would translate to 168 (he's a small Middleweight) and the very top level, only time will tell. I can't think of anyone at 175 who I would give any real chance to.
I don't think anyone would beat him Kovalev if he is as good as he's looked so far probably has the best chance, but i don't think it's a great one
So yall gonna continue to act like Ward is untouchable:roll: As of right now BHOP still gives him problems IMO
Looking at what's above and below him in the divisions at the moment, I don't see Ward losing for a long, long time. People like to imagine Golovkin would pose a threat because of his power, but Ward is a defensive genius. Power doesn't mean **** if you can't apply it to your opponent in a meaningful fashion. It's a problem for Ward, because there's not that many appealing fights out there. What's the point in him schooling Kessler or Froch again? Kessler at least, may be slightly deserving of a rematch considering how the first one ended. Then what? Bute is a nothing fight now, very little to gain from it. Chavez Jr could be possible. Jr's popular, it'd be a decent payday for both. Pascal? Up and comers like Cleverly or Bellew, or Groves? Easy fights for him. Realistically, for right now at least, there's no one in or around his division who can match him.
I think Haye might give him something to think about. Ward would handle Vitali comfortably though. Although Vitali has a good record against light heavies so he might fancy his chances.
I couldn't agree more. He's so good that no one at 160, 168 or 175 can beat him. The GGG talk is hilarious. Abraham arguably hit harder than GGG and you see how far that took him against Ward. Power is nothing when you're in there with someone who's not there to be hit.:deal Skills and smarts win fights not power.:deal
I'd like to see him face Gennady Golovkin and Andre Direll before he moves up in weight. Sergey Kovalev, Bernard Hopkins and a rematch with Chad Dawson would be intriguing fights for him at light heavyweight.
Golovkin is far more skilled than Abraham, and his workrate is much better. Your underselling his boxing ability. He's got more to his game than just power. I don't think he has much chance against Ward though, he's too small and Ward will be able to control the range and nullify him, and has the chin to take the blows that Golovkin would land I'd assume.
