no one, dawson was the only threat and he buckled, Dirrell woulda had a chance had he stayed active vs top level guys but his lack of activity and experience vs top level guys would make me confident in a clear Ward decision.
He should try for the Martinez fight, its the biggest possible match out there for him. I fear we might get Ward-Hopkins. Pray it doesnt happen.
Kessler will have the biggest chance. He will have to train on a "step a side counter". The uppercut or a good ref could also finish Ward!
Ward is too sharp for these guys, what is good is that when he fights on the front foot, the dude is class at a distance with his speed and also on the inside with his clinching, holding and general inside work, he really is a complete boxer imo the only way to beat ward is to be very sharp, you need speed, power with good foot movement to negate his inside work with that said, styles make fights, i actually think Bute would have the best chance at beating him as he is strong and quick, its funny... for me froch beats bute, kessler beats froch, bute beats kessler ward beats them all thats my opinion anyway=/
No one is really ****ing with Ward, but as far as the best chance, I am going to throw out an unexpected name & it's Bika. That was Ward's toughest fight. The fight was very dirty, ugly, & he had to grind that one out. He clearly won, but Bika made he earn the win.
Do you also remember Ward going on about how Bute was the man to beat at Super Middleweight and how the winner of the Super Six had to fight him to prove who the best was? No? Let me refresh your memory: http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/sport...dre-ward_N.htm Ward insists he's not looking past the tournament but thinks the winner should fight Bute (28-0, 23 KOs), who was not invited into the Super Six. "Some people would argue that the Super Six winner is the best; some would argue that Bute wasn't there so they're not the best," Ward says. "As a competitor, you want to face the best. He's the main guy out there, so you want to go right at him." And from Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XO_H29ikNzs “Lucian Bute, man he’s doing a good job right now. He’s winning, he’s winning the way he’s supposed to win with the caliber of fighter that he’s fighting. That’s definitely somebody that after this tournament is over that should fight the Super Six winner. Because there’s too much argument; there’s too much confusion over who the best is. So the winner of this tournament should fight Lucian Bute for the Ring Magazine title.” Fact is, Ward only changed his tune when he was in the Super Six final and he was in with a chance of winning it. In the build up to the final and its aftermath he came up with no end of excuses as to why he shouldn't fight Bute and how Bute hadn't earnt it, going back on everything he'd said months before. Now, I wouldn't have so much problem with that if Ward hadn't then attempted to make out as if Bute was the reason the fight didn't happen. If Ward was injured and needed a break then that's fine and a perfectly legitimate reason for not taking the fight but he should have then shut the hell up and accepted that the world didn't stop for him and Bute couldn't wait around, instead he criticised Bute for signing to fight Froch and acted as if a Ward/Bute fight had been there to be made only for Bute to duck him to fight Froch instead. That's where he gets no breaks from me on this issue. When he tried to turn things around so that it was entirely Bute's fault that the fight didn't happen, and that it had nothing to do with him being injured and writing Bute off as a potential opponent the second he made the Super Six final. I dont think Ward ducked Bute, I think he was physically unable to make the fight at the time and even if he wasn't he wanted a break after the Super Six and was entitled to have one, but his attitude after Bute signed to fight Froch annoys me to no end.
Noone in or around his division can beat him. Froch - No Kessler, definitely not Dawson - No Dirrell - Has a better chance than anybody elese, but who knows where the hell his head or career is right now Bute - I don't beleive so
I'll do this by weight class 160 I think Geale would be interesting in there, I also think Chavez Jr could apply sufficient pressure and body punching to wear down Ward 168 Stieglitz looked really good in his last fight I'd like to see that unification, if Froch or Kessler win in eye catching fashion than I'd say fight Ward maybe they learned something after going over the film, last id say Adonis Stevenson sure ESB hates the guy for what he did but he can punch and is very explosive 175 I'd like to see him in vs Kovalev or Pascal or even though he lost Cloud, Hopkins, some big guys at the weight who might present challenges lots of possibilities
I say Dawson at 175 would most likely defeat him . a rematch would look completely different from the first fight .
