Very nice- a great list overall but these three are pretty much the first people I think of when thinking of all-time great chins (or at least 3 of the first half dozen), Villasana, especially. He's pretty much always been my 'go to' pfp best chin ever guy. Many other great chins, like Hagler and McCallum, weren't really getting hit a great deal and when they were it was usually with one big shot as they were too skilled to be hit with volleys of punches in succession, whereas Marcos ate up leather like Pac-Man- and shook them off like they were gnat stings.
Re: McCall or Chuvalo. Both great calls- too hard to separate them. Both the major contender for the #1 slot. McCall never even seemed to be hurt- and fighting as we get into the 'super heavy' era means he's generally taking on much bigger guys than Chuvalo did. But George was eating so much leather and still wouldn't go down, so normally I'd go for that kind of fighter- as he's having to prove his chin fighter-after-fight, but he was stopped a few times and McCall, as we know, was only stopped due to his mental breakdown in the ring- and still wasn't being budged by huge shots when he wasn't really defending himself. Maybe Ollie should have the edge in this case.
I'm none of that illustrious quartet, but, Featherweight .Wayne McCullough and Juan Laporte. As an alternative to Hagler at Middle,Lamotta?
I'm referring to the glove incident ,no more than 6 seconds elapsed and that's also 6 extra seconds for Danny Holland to work on Cooper's cuts. Chickie Ferrara administered the smelling salts, and when I asked the BBBOC Secretary when they were banned in the UK a few years ago,his answer was," ain't got a clue".
I'd say one team was much happier with the extra 6 seconds, as to quote Harry C at ringside: "he doesn't know where he is, Clay". I actually remember someone doing that on here, and it must have been you- and we never found out the truth! Nice one Mc.
Harry C also said Ali was too tired to hold his arms up against Foreman. His reading of the fight was so bad he re-did his commentary after the fight!
Nah he was out on his feet as the bell rang.Cooper would have finished him had the knockdown happened earlier in the round. Ali had good recuperating abilities but still Dundee had to use smelling salts to help revive him in between the rounds
I was looking at Sanderline Williams vs Nigel Benn recently, and thought to myself how many massive punchers Williams went the distance with and was actually competitive with them aswell. Benn McClellan Barkley Are arguably top 10 hardest hitters in Middleweight history and Williams went the distance with all of them. Even Don Lee, Merqui Sosa, were no slouches in power department and Williams went the distance with them aswell. I believe Williams's only legit stoppage was on a cut aswell.
