John Garfield is the only one who consistently posts details and stories I have not heard ad nauseum. Most of the analysis here is ham-fisted postulating, or worse pure speculation, at best based on a paucity of subjective evidence. And how many times are the same arguments, head to head fantasies and legacies rehashed? It stretches beyond tedious.

I know we all sometimes have different perspectives on fights, fighters etc...but that is what makes the board what it is! I have alot of favorite posters whose opinions I enjoy alot raging b( )ll, john garfield, stonehands89,Red Cobra, Sweetscientist, Manassa, McGrain, CP, Doudenum,Ted Spoon and more...We might not always agree with one another here... but it's a great place to learn about boxing.

Hank wasn't that bad if only he stuck to one identity. I liked him when he was just Homicidal Hank. Although he was pretty hard on Joe Louis and generally pissed off a lot of the old school advocates some of his posts were pretty well written. I'll never forget the thread he started last year on April fools day entitle " I think Mr. Magoo is being too hard on Joe Louis." He proceeded to create a rather lengthy post that was highly sarcastic in nature mocking the Bomber's career. I got such a kick out of it that I had to jump in, though it was all in good fun. Yeah, I don't know whatever happened to old Hank. Perhaps he was banned or is just posting under another alias, though no one else that I've conversed with has any resemblance.

Thank you to you and everyone else who mentioned Stonehands. It is good to be appreciated by one's peers and God knows those of us who have been mentioned out here have put much effort into the our posts and debates. There are many more though, who really are excellent in their own right and deserve a mention as well.

No one should feel intimidated though, so I hope you weren't serious about that. Speaking for myself, I enjoy polite exchanges (which is why I try to follow JT's, Duo's, and Mega's posts -they are not only a few personal favorites, but I can count on informative discussions. They are also good people too and that for me is most important).

Sometimes though, we get posts that are personal attacks, the product of unfounded arrogance, or are disrespectful towards a fighter or a poster, and I for one don't hesitate to call them on it.

    Anyway, thanks.

John Thomas appears to be leading the poles. Apparently, all those Greg Page discussions are paying off for him.

    hah!

honestly, though, this board is my only outlet for discussion of matters fistiana as the sport has lost so much of its connection to the past (and present).

keep up the good work, all.

    Among the oldschoolers - Janitor

Among the newschoolers - Sweet Pea

John Thomas, Manassa, Amsterdam, john garfield, and mr. magoo are the other names that I can think of off the top of my head as favorites

I am Legend is/was good, but rather insane.

    Posthumously? cross_trainer :D

Seriously though, 75% of the posters on this forum are excellent (24% are sometimes-annoying nuthuggers and 1% are obvious trolls)

I sure wouldn't call Sweet Pea "new school" but he is an excellent poster, no doubt.

Mate, i don't even belong on there lol. But yes Greg Page is certainly reeling people in! I'm too cheeky and know nothing compared to many others pre 70's. I'm also too cheeky and straight . I just stick my nose in and post a lot LOL

I mean look at the names not up. I won't go into deep mention as i will forget someone and feel bad, but a guy like Stonehands (Among many others of course) gives an awful lot and goes to great lengths when discussing/debating with people in here.

As janitor hinted, it is the sum of the parts and collection of knowledge and opion that makes this forum such an incredible source of great information and opinion. Even from bad and misinformed opinions we learn, as these inspire others to reply and address and we all learn something along the way. Therefore in essense, even many a poor/inexperienced/stubborn/silly (Or however one wants to put it) poster is invaluable in his own way as they push into action others who paint a more complete and well rounded picture.

Of course a large amount of this forum is just opinion based, Ali - Louis, Whitaker - Duran etc and many topics are hard to be conclusive on, but the journey sure is fun and enlightening.

A great forum at the end of the day.
