My pick is an oldie, but a goody (at least to me). Carbajal KO 11 Arce. Arce won every round except the 5th from a flash knockdown, and the fight was even close to being stopped by Carbajal's corner. Then boom, right hand, Arce down and out. Carbajal retires, and Arce stays undefeated for nine years.
when james douglas got knocked down by tyson i dont think anyone would think he would go on to win it.
Yup Corrales' comeback was unreal. Also Acelino Freitas and Jorge Barrios going into the 11th Freitas needed 2 knockdowns to get the points even turned out he stopped him in the 12th
I'm surprised no one has mentioned Foreman/Moorer. I realize George wasn't getting beat up all that bad, but damn, he pretty much lost every minute of every round up to the KO. Pavlik/Taylor was pretty amazing, especially when you consider what Manny had to say. Before the fight he said, "Kelly Pavlik will be competetive with Jermain Taylor for two rounds."
Minto - Madalone I Minto was floored in the first round, Maddalone controled the fight and Minto knocked the s... out of him in round 10 (behind on all the scorecards):happy
I just thought of another. This was 2 guys who are WAY down the food chain from the top, but it was a GREAT comeback. Furious Freddy Curiel looked like someone took a brick to his face, but with 30 seconds remaing in the final round, BANG, he knocked Ross "The Boss" Minter clear across the freaking ring!!
You're right, and I also apologize because I was thinking comeback in the sense of people that were way behind in the cards, not that fact that one fighter was really hurt then the other came back. atsch
Marquez against Pacquiao is a good one also. 3 knockdowns in the first round is hard to come back from! Can't believe I never thought of this when starting this thread. That was amazing from JMM. In saying that, he never looked as out-of-it as Pavlik (v Taylor) or Benn (v McClennan) did.
