Eder Jofre. Came back after three years to win the featherweight title and went 25-0.

Eder Jofre has to be in the top five IMO.

Came back after three years of retirement two weights above his previous and best weight amassing a record of 25 wins 0 defeats with 13 victories coming by way of KO winning the featherweight world title from Jose Legra and beating some quality guys such as Frankie Crawford, Shig Fukuyama, Octavio Gomez, Godfrey Stevens and Vicente Saldivar(Apast his best Vicente).

    Beat me to it.

Also SRL coming of one month shy of being retired for three years to beat the reigning MW champion and the pound for pound best at the time in Marvin Hagler deserves a mention.

    Jofre

The older / more inactive you are, the harder it is to come back.

Louis. Certainly not the best, but gat he came back from the war and had something left was remarkable.

It would be easy to name the champions whose titles were frozen during the war, but I'll go another route. A top contender. Georgie Abrams was off for 4 years doing his service. Came back and beat Steve Belloise and Anton Raadik and held Marcel Cerdan, Sugar Ray and Fred Apostoli right down to the wire in 10 rounders. Not bad at all. Also, I will give a shout out to Herol Graham who was also off for 4 years. Came back and beat Chris Johnson and Vinnie Pazienza and just missed out on a world title when getting stopped by Charles Brewer in a fight he was winning.

He did have a great performance against Bruno though, one of the best performances of his career imo.

One of the better ones in the last couple of years is Acelino "Popo" Freitas (incidentally, the greatest Brazilian since Jofre...actually the only great Brazilian since Jofre, or even besides Jofre...) who retired from the ring - in the middle of a match - at lightweight at the age of 32, and then returned more than five years later, at light middleweight, and dominated and knocked out a ranked (WBC #13 at middleweight as of when they fought) unbeaten 16-0 (11) prospect, his first time back, without a single tune-up or rust-shaker.

Only Ali and Foreman what? :huh

No question was posed to which any answer starting with "only" makes any sense.

Just seems that Ali and Foreman made the most impact.
