Well if that is the case, then we should talk about 175lbers, because that was what the term was used for first in the early 20th Century.

The thread says 'all-time', thus the term has meant anyone weighing more than 160lbs, but no more 200lbs over the course of time.

I'd like to say : Ali was 206 pounds in the Liston rematch I 1965, and he was 203 for one of his defences in 1966, if I remember rightly.
So, whoever said he could have cut weight in his prime to make 200, is absolutely right, in my opinion.

ANYWAY, ON TOPIC, I think Evander Holyfield is still the best cruiser since the division started, and he moved up to heavy at 18-0.

Exactly, Toney really showed up against Jirov and chewed him up... When Toney brought an effort like that there are very few cruiserweights who I've seen that could've handled him I even feel he'd given a prime Evander as a cruiser a good challenge... I feel Holyfield was practically unbeatable compared to anyone who has competed in the cruiserweight division so far Holyfield as a cruiser may be lbs for lbs one of the better fighters ever.. He really looked incredible at his peak in the division. The De Leon fight is an example of that.

Has to be Holyfield, but I wonder how some of the smaller HW's would've fared had their been a CW division say since the 1920's.

I could only imagine how great Dempsey would've looked at CW. His hand speed and footwork was such a thing of beauty.

Anyway, since the induction of the CW division, it has to be Holyfield.

I do wonder though how haye would be looked at if he decided never to move up to HW. He looked like a guy who could've been a longstanding CW champion.

I would be surprised if Ali was 203 for a '66 fight.

All this talk of Ali and Holmes is laughable especially as the cruiserweight limit at its inception in the 80's was 190lbs . Holyfield is clearly the standout cruiserweight champion I can't see any other fighter at the weight approaching his level . Some of the past cruiserweight champions may of had longer reigns had the 200lb limit been in place from the beginning of the 80's . Glenn mccrory used to have a terrible time making the 190 limit

OK, I will include smaller HWs who fought effectively while weighing no more than 205 Lbs. in their prime. I'm not going to include Ali, Holmes, Foreman, and others around their size. I won't include Tyson, Frazier, Liston, Tua, Morrison, and plenty of others either. Sure, some of these guys could have made the 200 Lb. limit (Frazier sticks out), but how good would they have been at 200 Lbs.? Too many unanswered questions.

    With that said, here goes.

    1. Holyfield 200
    2. Louis 200
    3. Marciano 185
    4. Charles 180, much smaller than some of the 6'4"-6'5" 200 Lbers, but I think he'd manage well.

    5-10?

Maybe guys like Qawi, DeLeon, Haye, Toney, Adamek, Patterson, Walcott, and can't forget about... who gives a shlt?

It's still Holyfield people. Yes, I pick him over Louis. An experienced 200 Lb. Holyfield with wins over Tillis, Thomas, Dokes, Rodrigues, Stewart (he was 218 for this fight but he was usually around 207-208 in these days) Douglas, Foreman, Cooper, and Holmes.

Dempsey would have made a great CW... but Holyfield would have knocked his dlck in the dirt!
