no doubt. casamayor would have definitely been one of those 100 fight career guys if he was fighting in the 1940's or 50's, really, at the top level the main reason fighters remain so inactive is that it would kill their marketability to risk losing non-title fights in between title defenses or challenges. i really think boxing has suffered by the emphasis on wins and losses measured by blind numbers and not by the quality of the performance, win or lose.

 

Gavilan imo, although Napoles isn't far behind.

How about the best contemporary Cuban fighter? A lot of people will disagree with me but Juan Carlos Gomez has had a pretty sparkling career regardless of how you rate his level of opposition. Many Cuban fighters with the amateur credentials didn't pan out as pros whereas Gomez has been a very good professional fighter for a long time. Undefeated cruiserweight champion with 10 successful title defenses and wins over decent heavyweights like Virchis and Sam as well as a faded but still determined McCall. Aside from the hiccup against Diaz and the unfortunate task of having to face arguably the most dominant heavyweight on the planet in Vitali Klitschko, Gomez has put together a nice little career. Not bad for a guy who wanted to be a baseall player.

 

Napoles is the best Ive seen but Gavilan probably has the better record and is just about on par with Jose anyway.

Gomez was very solid, one of the best cruisers ever but the youth of that division and its general weakness in a historical sense dilutes the significance of that claim. Wouldnt put him over guys like Chocolate, LMR, Ramos or even Casa and Legra.
Florentino Fernandez would make my top 10 somewhere.
