I hate that crab shell ****, its very ugly. I agree it's very efficient though.. but personally I would say defenses like sweet pea, PBF, or Hopkins are much better, because they are actually able to COUNTER at whatever is coming, unlike Winky.

Uh....obviously boxing wasn't invented until Muhammad Ali laced them up.

Any poll on defense without Pep and Benitez is a joke.

Of these guys, however, I got to go with Sweet Pea.

Castillo didn't. The Judah KD could count as a knockdown, but no one would credit Judah for a KD

Yeah, that's what I was thinking when he touched down after tasting a Hearns right hand.

    Benitez's D was sick though.

If only Herol Graham's chin was as good as his defensive skills...he has to be up there

    :?

Which footage of him have you seen? I'll assume you didn't watch the Fuji bout, which is by far the best footage of him available. In most of the rest of it he's pretty much past his prime.

Watch the Fuji fight though. His defense is probably the best I've ever seen. I rate him a clear level above someone like Mayweather in that regard.

it's close for prime ali and whitaker. probably i'd give the edge to prime ali, whose rope a dope was the blueprint for fighters fighting off the ropes years later. ali's footwork was superb and sweet pea's defense was his offense and upper body movement of cobra was second to none. he seemed to do it so naturally and work the angles, be in a crouch one moment and behind his opponent the next. great, great fighter
