Ivan Calderon? Maybe not the GOAT defense, but a worthy enough shout out... Epic movement, stamina, punch selection.
Pep was the man for defense, followed by Sweet Pea and then RJJ, in his prime nobody could land on RJJ
Floyd Is the greatest defensive fighter because not only is his head movement great his guard is near impenetrable as well has his fast feet that help him to dance away from punches. sweat pea is basically on par with Floyd as well nicolino locche had great head movement but he couldn't use his footwork or guard as good as Floyd and Pernell benny Leonard was another very skilful defensive fighter in his prime also Roy jones jr had great defensive skills
World Class and ATGS. Noone touches him. Not Locce, not Mayflower. Not Lara, not Rigo etc......well.....Rigo did to Donaire, a HOF IMO, what Pea did to most everyone. So...much as I hate Rigo....he's close with Pea. But Pea is #1.
I was thinking Herol Graham. a different type of defence but I seem to remember thinking years ago that Scott Welsh was good at catching shots on the arms and gloves. A young N Hamed was hard to hit clean and often
I've seen him get hit clean way too much to consider him a top defensive fighter. You don't get hit that much that consistently IF you're in any discussion for the #1 defensive fighter in History. I can't imagine how great his defense is going to be another decade down the road. Once we consider how absurdly fighters legends grow each passing year and he's starting to be a yesterday's era fighter. Being a yesterday's fighter automatically adds greatly to one's talents. He was more showman than substance, that's from what his actual I'm ring performancea told me year in year out. I'll expect to hear endless non sense on this, same as the myth pep "won" a round without landing a shot. We have moron's on here that still believe that rubbish
