    it was the way both Joeys fought off the ropes that got me intrigued
    the middleweight division in the early 60 was more loaded with talent than its ever been.
    swarmers like fullmer and tiger, left hooking bangers like Carter and my favourite, florentino fernandez.
    randy sandy, spider webb, holley mimms, terry downes, Paul pender, George Benton and not forgetting emile griffith.
    i ran into my old trainer before xmas and told him id been watching giardello and archer on YouTube "there was some great fighters back then" he said and said mimms was one of his favourites.
    we wore red SEER boxing trunks at the time in the early 70s and i think that was a homage to his favourite boxer, the light punching but defensively gifted Howard Winston, whod lost the tops of 3 fingers in a work accident

    i suppose i could throw in our man mike mctigue....although from the limited footage i have seen i have formed an opinion of a boxer almost scared of being hit
