Barkely/Toney was NOT a one sided fight. The that it went to a SD and some of the monster shots Duran ate should be enough to disprove that.

Anyway, Hopkin's dissections of Joppy and Johnson spring to mind.

 

Exactly, I think you ment to say Duran/Barkley but I agree, it was a close fight and hardly a clinic. Duran's destruction of Moore would have been a more appropriaye choice.

 

Hopkins has quite a few of those. I think a very good example of his "old-age-style" is his fight with Wright.

I stated that Toney-Barkley was a clinic. And then recommended that from there one should watch Duran-Barkley et al. Duran-Barkley was indeed a tough and close fight but the level of skill demonstrated in there by Duran was not only extremely impressive, it was complete.

Someone was knocking Duran-Moore has Duran's choosing cheese to fight for just another belt; I argued that he was a 7-5 underdog and outgunned physically in every direction -Moore was bigger, stronger, hit harder, was younger and was faster. Barkley was considerably more physically overwhelming than Moore was against Duran and Duran still managed to win based on one factor -applied skill. It was master class -and the fact that he wasn't facing a mummy in there like Toney did years later makes it particularly impressive. It was Barkley's best night and it still wasn't enough.

 

Tubbs win over Sanders?

 

For a great back and forth fight, Toney-McCallum 1 deserves a mention.

Absolutely, that's the best performance I've ever seen between 2 "A" fighters and will go down as the performance of the DECADE........It's like Bernard spent years studying Tito's mannerisms, movements, everything (well he did admit he knew Tito inside out knowing he would meet him someday) ....Tito was never in position to do anything and when he was Bernard could take it...Outstanding footwork and performance by BHOP
