For me recently it was Mayweather Jr's stoppage of Angel Manfredy. I remember watching Floyd in the olympics and not thinking he would do that well as a pro. Manfredy was on a decent clip of fights, and Mayweather just tore him a new ass in two rounds. Quite impressive.

    I agree w Nelson v.s. Sanchez.

Pete R, landed a good shot and showed a ton of heart but got killed v.s. Patterson.

    Spinks fought an ancient Ali.

Davey Moorer v.s. Ayub Kalule was amazing ..

Cowdell and Ford put up excellent efforts against Sanchez as well, with very little experience against top fighters between them.

As far as boxrec goes, Jimmy Britt had beaten Kid Lavigne, Battling Nelson, Frank Erne, Willie Fitzgerald and Young Corbett II all before he had 15 fights.

Don't think you'll see a more impressive achievement than that as far as 'on paper' records go.

But of course he would have had some fights that didn't get recorded between these feats....

Almost unbelievably Fenech had only had 17 fights going into his battle with the aged Zarate. Of course this was anything but the great version of Carlos.

Davey Moore was SUPER-HYPED at 154 after beating mothers like Ayub Kalule and Gary Guiden on TV............ But it proved short lived after he ran into Duran in New York in '83........

But "L. Spinks-Ali" in Vegas takes the cake......... Still, Ali was outta shape and bored during that fight....... The rematch told the true story as to who was who in the ring......

Qawi had no amatuer experience, but within 18 fights had won the world title at LH, after having defeated Mike Rossman and James Scott, and avenged his only loss at the time to future title challenger Johnny Davis.

Two FANTASTIC rounds, love the way Park mixes up shots from body to head.

    Is the Canto fight available?

Joe Jeanette, who had no amateur experience, and fewer than 15 fights went the distance with Jack Johnson.

Ali had only 19 fights when he took on Liston, if I recall correctly.

Remember Mo Harris taking on former heavyweight Champ Larry Holmes .. I did think Mo won that one but the judges got Larry Off the hook. I was actually in Johnny Toccos office a day after the fight .. Johnny got a call and it was Larry asking Johnnys opinion of the fight, Larry was upset that the press grilled him about the fight being scored underhandedly, Johnny told Larry that the fight was hard to score because of the way Mo strategically jabbed and moved constantly throughout the fight. Larry was beside himself and Tocco told him not to be so sensitive and the fight should be put behind him.. When Johnny put the receiver down he looked at me and said Larry got lucky and Maurice ran him outa the ring and he should not be boxing any more, he dont need the money or the bother no mo. He stated "Larry has no business takin on them lively kids, he aint made for that.."
