Earnie Shavers against Muhammad Ali for a guy that is known for stamina issues and being a very aggressive fighter. I thought Shavers performance vs Ali was one of his most disicplined displays.

Duran of the 70's was once described as the most in control out of control fighter in history

    Monzon and Chavez already mentioned.

Second career Foreman. So cool and collected, efficient, just ratcheting up the assault and shrinking the ring as the minutes clicked by.

My favourite example of Holmes' aggression has to be his KO of Michael Greer right after getting rabbit-punched.

Chocolatito Gonzalez really is just a wonder to watch when it comes to educated and controlled aggression, especially after the SSR KO when he had to become more cautious and pick his spots and work his set-ups more against bigger opponents. His second fight against Estrada is, imo, both an excellent fight and a very strong showing from Chocolatito who got robbed.
GGG against Lemieux fought a very disciplined fight against a huge puncher.
Harada has of course been mentioned but he really is just one of the best and most disciplined pressure fighters you'll ever see.
Myung Woo-Yuh is also very disciplined in applying pressure iirc. Always keeps his shape defensively before pressing in. His fight against Baharudin is a good demonstration of this.

    Perfect!

I think Greer had an inkling as to what might come as indicated by his trying to touch gloves - possibly thinking “My God, what have I just done?”

The only glove touching Larry was interested in thereafter was his lefts and rights crashing into Greer’s head. Again, GREAT example. Thanks.

Agreed. Great performance by Earnie and his pacing allowed him to take his power of punch and well metered output well into the very late rounds. If not for his insane chin, Ali would’ve always been at risk of being KO’d for the most part of 15 rounds.

Of course second career Foreman controlled his aggression a lot better. So much so, he didn’t seem aggressive all that often, if at all.

In some earlier fights in his comeback he was prone to pausing to allow the ref to consider a stoppage or he even waved a ref in to stop a fight.

In fact, when the ref didn’t intervene when George thought he should’ve, that was probably the most aggressive (toward the ref) that I saw George in his second career. Lol.

What an amazing reinvention of one’s self.

Fighting Harada vs Jose Medel II, Harada finally knew how to pace himself good.
