No question the highlighted ones are exciting, and woulda broken PPV records, but I lean towards your earlier off-beat ones -- like discoverin' nuggets of gold.

Every one of these is a match made in heaven, d. If I read the list more than once, I might go into diabetic shock. Had you apprenticed for Teddy Brenner, boxing might still be in the Golden Age.

Top quality top 5. Love your #1 (I've pick my choices in bold). I do rate Robbo #1 at WW by the way, but I think head to head Ray may just shade it.

Gentlemen, the above responses are mouth watering... I will invite some personal ridicule, and offer my post with an Australian theme.

    1. Young Griffo vs Willie Pep... (126) I cant believe this was not an offering thus far.

    2. Dave Sands vs Marvin Haglar...(160)

    3. Les Darcy vs Jake LaMotta...(160)

    4. Jeff Harding vs Billy Conn...(175)

    5. Lionel Rose vs Carlos Zarate...(118)

    6. Tony Mundine vs Tony Zale...(160)

    7. Jeff Fenech vs Eusebio Pedroza...(126)

    8. Johnny Famechon vs Sandy Saddler...(126)

    9. Ron Richards vs Roberto Duran...(160)

    10. Les Darcy vs Jack Dempsey

    Griiffo/Pep speaks for itself.
Sands/Haglar would be a display of Sand`s perennial ability.
Darcy/LaMotta would expose the deepest endevours of their strengths..
Harding/Conn would be an enjoyable slugfest..
Rose/Zarate, in his Lionels prime, and satisfied at the weight, this may be a classic.
Mundine/Zale is mentioned as Zale might be in some difficulties with Mundine.
Fenech/Pedroza as Fenech is needed to be tested against a 'quality' south paw 'CHAMPION'
Famechon/Saddler due the fine examples of evasive skills.
Richards/Duran.. for those without knowledge of Richards, he was Aust MW/ LH/ HW champ. Beating Lesnevich, Actis, Clarence Reeves, and went the distance with a young Archie Moore. A lot is to be said about him, which Im happy to post if your interested. He remained calm in the roughest of fights, hence this suggestion. At M/W, he was something to see.
Darcy/Dempsey as Darcy was stronger than Carpentier, Gibbons, Brennan and Tunney. Not as skilled as Carpentier and Tunney. Although, had he not passed away, Dempsey must have been a likely fighter for him to have faced at some point.
