One of the funniest boxing cliches in the excellent thread was this gem: How often does the commentator praise cutman x with being one of the best around? It got me thinking however, because sometimes you see a fighter get cut early and it feels like the fight is all but done, but somehow Old Jimmy Smith in the corner works some miracle with the little iron and what have you and the guy goes on to the final bell. So, what's the best cutman performance that you can think of and who really does deserve that commentator accolade?
It’s strange that they don’t need official training and certification....They’re performing medical work.
Honestly... Whoever managed Drugnelo's cut in the rematch w/ Golovkin... That was a BAD CUT, but it never reopened. Managed very well. Maybe it was a clenbuterol-based ointment that they applied.
Locate cut... press grease into cut with one of Gulliver's cotton buds... check out ring girl's ass.... smear more grease over cut.... study cut very closely like that would make a difference..... wait for bell and get out.... finish the tab you'd lit before climbing through the ropes....
The guy who cut Hughie's cut in this last fight did a wonderful job. Maybe not the best ever, but quite good I would say, he deserved every dollar he earnt that night, and maybe even more. This Old Jimmy Smith was a quite good Jimmy Smith.
Am I right in saying that Vitalis corner tried sticking newspaper in the cut followed by grease? Don’t think I’ve dreamed this up,though I may have the wrong fight?
