Going by Britain being part of Europe,it's got to be Lennox Lewis, easy. Following Lennox would be,at a pinch,Max Schmelling. Thoughts ?

Bob Fitzsimmons still has an argument for the No2 slot.

Farr was the best British heavyweight between Fitzsimmons and Lewis, no doubt about it.

It is a damn shame in many ways that his prime coincided with Louis's, or we might have had a British lineal champion in the middle of that hundren year famine.

    V. and W. Klitschko.

If you meant western Europe only, I would say Schmelling too.

Maher, Sharkey, Ingo, Carnera, Neusel, Golota, Uxcuden, Bruno would be top 10 contenders.

    All solid calls.

I think Don Cockel is in the argument also.

Not Golota. But Wlad should be in consideration.

I go with Schmeling though. But I maybe a little bit biased here. :D

If Don Cockel is in the argument, is it really an argument worth having?

Head to head or based on achievement?

    There's a difference.

    Based on achievement:

    1. Lennox Lewis

    2. Wladimir Klitschko

    3. Max Schmeling

    I think so.

Cockel for all his limitations was the #2 ranked heavyweight contender at one point.

Working on the assumption that the Ukraine is part of Asia:

    1. Lennox Lewis
    2. Max Schmeling
    3. Bob Fitzsimmons (Strong argument for #2 slot)
    4. Primo Carnera
    5. Ingemar Johansen

Then Sharkey, Maher and Farr can fight it out for the #6 slot.

    Why would you do so?
