Best ever glass jawed fighters?

I'd say it was 8 out of 10 in the lighter weight classes and 7 out of 10 in the higher ones. Very, very solid

 

Khan had:

No Chin. None
No stamina
No Ring IQ
Was feather fisted

 

Khan had little else besides perhaps the fastest hands in the sport. No jab. No ring IQ. Poor footwork. Poor stamina.

The worst part about Khan is that he waa so in love with his handspeed that he would leave his glass chin exposed as he fired off unneccesary 5-6 punch combinations and eat vicious counters.

 

Lack of fight IQ held him back as well

 

I wouldn't include Kenny as glass jawed,he took everything Ali had for 3 fights and I think beat him twice and the list of fighters Ali stopped is extraordinary. He also took everything Holmes could throw for 15 rounds. His style was just awful for the biggest punchers.

 

Herol 'Bomber' Graham needs a mention.

Not many could lay a glove on the guy, the few that did made his legs go funny.

 

Agreed, he just REALLY didn't like getting hit in the face. Feel it was more a mental thing than anything. Always got up from KDs, never knocked out cold or counted out.

JMM had plasticine chin, you can dent it but it never shattered like chins of Khan, RJJ and Wlad...

 

Wlad have been knocked down +14 times in his career, he was even knocked down in fights he won. He was also hurt by the right hand you’re talking about from Haye. Wlad created his hugging style so he didn’t have to get hit.

Wlad was very good, an ATG, but his chin was made of glass.

Wlad didn’t have a glass chin. He was never counted out off his feet in a 21 year 70 fight career. In fact he went the longest period in HW title history without a KD being scored against him. Physical prime Joshua needed to land many flush power punches and completely empty the gas tank 2x against washed up grandpa Wlad just to get a premature British stoppage.

 

David Price has one of the worst chins I've seen from a ranked boxer. I don't think he had the mindset/skillset to be a top fighter even if he had an iron chin, but I do wonder if some of the anxiety/cardio issues he seemed to have were the result of his poor punch resistance. Wlad doesn't necessarily have a glass chin, but it's below average and he would be near unbeatable with a good one.

 

Wouldn't say Marquez had a glass chin...he got dropped 10 times or so in his career and 5 of them were Pacquiao...who wasn't exactly a ***** hitter, who else, katsidis , Floyd, Norwood? Not sure any of them are pillow punchers
