I will leave out the odd weight class if I havent seen enough of it....

    HWT - Louis v Ali

Lt-HWT - Tunney v Charles (Havent viewed enough greats in this class but thought this match would be fascinating)

SMWT - Jones jr v Calzaghe

    MWT - Robinson v Hagler

    Lt-MWT - McCallum v Hearns

    WWT - Robinson v Leonard

    Lt-WWT - Pryor v Chavez

    LWT - Duran v Whitaker

    SFWT - Arguello v Chavez

    FWT - Pep v Sanchez

    SBWT - Gomez v Morales

    Agree ? Disagree ? :thumbsup

I disagree with you picks at lhw, mw and fw. It has to be Charles-Moore and we all know how these fights ended. At mw imo Monzon-Greb - Hagler, Hopkins, Walker, Robinson, Cerdan would be close but h2h imo these two are a bit better. At fw imo it´s Pep vs. Saddler and these fights happen also in reality.

I wont argue with the Saddler thing & I did consider him but since he & Pep had fought, I went with Sanchez v Pep.

I think the Robinson that tkod Lamotta at MWT might beat any MWT H2H.

I would fancy Tunney to beat Moore too, the guy beat Dempsey twice at HWT & only lost one fight - avenged about 3 times vs Greb - I believe he had 70 odd wins.

You can't just pick the 2 best guys at each weight. I mean Ali and Louis are mine and most peoples picks for #1 and #2 ATG heavyweights, but in terms of H2H, have you considered the likes of Lewis, Liston, Johnson, Holmes, Dempsey?

    No, you dont understand.
I picked the 2 men that I regard as the top 2 in each weight then placed them against each other in a H2H match.

They arent necessarily the 2 I regard as the top 2 H2H fighters although in most cases I believe this to be true aswell.

As for the HWTs, I do feel that Ali & Louis would likely win most H2Hs if all the greats fought each other just once.

Ah I see. Apologies for the misunderstanding.

Still, as great as he was, you rate Sanchez above guys like Saddler and McGovern at featherweight?

Personally I'd have Mayweather in the top 2 at super-feather aswell. I rate Whitaker extremely higher aswell on a p4p scale, though personally I would have Benny Leonard, Joe Gans, perhaps even the likes of Ortiz, Williams and Canzoneri above him at 135. Whitaker-Duran is an intrigueing match-up though.

Based on resumes than surely, but based on skills and ability, as well as dominance, he's with or above any of them.

    Oh absolutely.

I'm pretty confused with this now.

Is this based purely on ability or including not only ability but H2H and resume in finding the 2 best fighters at each weight and then matching them?

For MW i'd go with Monzon vs Hagler (i'll catch **** for this but I believe Monzon would edge him out). And then the winner faces Harry Greb for title of greatest middleweight ever. Imagine the epicness

I'd assume the second. I will usually only include ability when we're dealing with the same era(as in modern or pre-modern era). Otherwise, when compiling an all-time list, it's mostly on resume and ability in their respective eras.

You think Fenech would beat Gomez? Wilfredo ate up really aggressive guys at 122lbs I think he is all wrong for Jeff who would eat a lot of huge shots. Jofre would stand a better chance if he fought at 122 due to his style.

I think Fenech would smother his power to a large extent, and bother him with total lack of respect and rough house tactics. Gomez always dictated at JF, the first fight he didn't was vs Sanchez. Tho obviously different fighters Fenech would show the same confidence and self belief. I think Fenech would do loads of damage H2H from Bantam to Feather. Gomez is an incredible fighter and would enter a narrow but firm fave, but i have the feeling Fenech could prevail. His intensity, confidence and strength was unreal around this weight and time. He'd be on Gomez and all over him in the blink of an eye, never letting up or conceding room. Gomez might punish him off but i'm backing Fenech.
