I found this vid on youtube... its the uploaders opinion of his best ever rounds 1-12... just so we`re clear, its not 12 random best ever rounds, its his best ever round 1, best ever round 2 & so on up to best ever round 12. A few of the rounds I would have in my own, all in all its a not bad vid, tell me what you think....... http://youtu.be/yEzNGJRKd_g :good
Ditto, really enjoyed it. However, as always we can look at something and scrutinise. Round 1 - perfect choice. Quarry-Frazier I and Patterson-Johannson III get an honorable mention. Round 2 - I was originally thinking about Canizales-Lora until I saw this one and was reminded of it. For sustained action I wouldn't change this. Round 3 - can't think off hand of another round 3 but I'm sure I'll come up with something. Round 4 - I would have gone with Foreman-Lyle. Round 5 - Caveman Lee-Johnny Locicero Round 6 - For some reason I'm thinking of Barrera-McKinney, but I'd have to watch it again. Round 7 - I think we could do better, there really wasn't sustained action and it was one-sided. Maybe Valdez-Briscoe II but I'm sure there are more. Round 8 - hard to beat Lopez-Saad Round 9 - that was an amazing round with Ward-Gatti. I'm also partial to round 9 of Jofre-Medal I Round 10 - perfect choice Round 11 - I always like the 11th of the final Robinson-LaMotta fight. Round 12 - Chavez-Taylor I was fairly brutal. He should have continued on through 15. If so I would have possibly added: Round 13 - Louis - Conn I Round 14 - Taylor - Anaya I Round 15 - Holmes-Norton I'm sure there is a ton more I'm not thinking of. Scartissue
:good I would have kept EM-MAB rds 5 (from fight 1) & 11 (from fight 3), those were the very best rounds of the enire trilogy & its between 2 legends of the lower weights, excellent technique to go along with the action.
Thanks for the video, Bill. Gotta agree with scartissue that I'd put Foreman-Lyle in for the round 4 slot instead. (The only downside to it would be having to listen to Cossell's call of the fight.) Most of the other choices are at least worthy of an honorable mention, so I don't have many issues with it.
I'm going to limit my choices to complete three minute rounds (no stoppages), just to be different. 1st: Hagler-Hearns 2nd: Norris-Waters 3rd: Gomez-Pintor 4th: Foreman-Lyle 5th: EM-MAB 1 6th: Hagler-Mugabi 7th: Corrales-Castillo I 8th: Saad-Lopez II 9th: Ward-Gatti I OR Salido-Lopez II 10th: Hopkins-Trinidad (remember...I'm limiting myself to complete rounds) 1th: Frietas-Barrios OR MAB-EM III 12th: Gutierrez-Franklin
So was this one which begins at the 6:00 minute mark. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HTWAzx7hijQ[/ame]
And an outstanding round 6. Pity we don't have round 6 from either of the first two Zale-Graziano wars. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dncANfx4QkQ[/ame]
I was just watching this fight for the first time and saw this round and was reminded of this thread. I remember groping for a good round 7. Well check out a greeeeeeat round 7 beginning at 9:22. I've watched it twice and both times said aloud "Holy Jesus!" Enjoy. http://youtu.be/qCUjmCYOKHE
