Floyd Patterson was great.. and Benitez too... I think D'amato liked the head motion as part of any great fighters best assets... Tyson had it and when it went Mike became hittable.. Mike had tools that were amazing but when you cannott find him with a clean shot he then became a very dangerous individual..
In his early days Bowe was very hard to hit.. Watch his fight with Tillery.. that first one... He never got a single glove laid on him.. not one.. Bowe became a whole lot slowwer as his offensive tools got better.. If he had the fast hands and Illusiveness plus those ferocious hooks and that uppercut.. Bowe may have been a lit more of a complete fighter.. Still a great natural talent..
Roy Jones could slip punches? Im sort of confused here...Duran slipped punches, Roy jerked his head back from punches.
So do I, if we're talking about ability. I think he was better than Duran, Robinson, Charles and Armstrong.
I would say 1. Pernell Whitaker 2. Willie Pep 3. Wilfred Benitez 4. Niccolino Loche 5. Floyd Mayweather
One fighter that should get a mention here is Tony Canzoneri. He often fought whole fights with his hands by his waist, depending on nothing but head movement to slip punches. Though by no means the most stylistic of movers, he was very hard to tag squarely and could frustrate even sharp shooters like Barney Ross and Kid Chocolate with his punch slipping ability.
Yeah I am amazing with Toney. If you want to see how Fitz MAY have look on post 1900's film. All one has to do is look at Toney Canzi. Both had near the same style.
