Best Ever under 200lb (head-to-head)

I would like to have known how Joe Louis would have navigated all those guys on this list.

Louis winning is probably a no brainer. Heres a group of others. All beat Marciano easy for me.

Langford, Tunney, John Henry Lewis, Braddock, Miske, Gibbons and Loughran. Bivins during his streak. If Farr can make the 200 he'd be there too. Then theres Floyd Patterson and Ingo though they took advantage of a smaller era. Conn if nothing else did do great against Louis twice.

Braddock is H2H one of the best ever at 195-200 a weight he only reached his last few fights. Billy Miske is another one. He went 2-0-1 against Fulton and Morris and did well in 2 of his 3 fights with Dempsey. Fulton is the only big opponent Langford fought and never beat. John Henry Lewis beat Gastanaga with the 88 inch reach without being able to see.

Tbf, I don't know if Usyk or any modern CWs should count. He's not 200 in the ring, he's like 210-215. I'm not against it, but in terms of size he's closer to Foreman or Ali than Louis or Marciano.

 

Usyk fought under 200 though, Roy Jones was a hell of allot better than Toney as he proved when the faced off, Charles should be there, Moore should be there, Patterson should be there, Tunney should be there, Calzaghe should be there, so should Hopkins, Langford too. Haye also fought at cruser at 185 IIRC, Schmelling should be there, Walcott also, probably some others I forgot

Styles make fights and there would be wins and loses. Who wins the most? Probably Usyk, his workrate and technical ability is off the charts. If Usyk can beat Fury, Joshua and Debouis, I don't see Louis beating him, who's had problems with Walcott, Schmelling and Conn. I mean if Conn is beating Louis for most the fight, a much bigger Usyk should outbox him.

Put Usyk in with Marciano and Dempsey. Well if those guys are getting outboxed by Walcott, Charles and Tunney, they're most likely getting outboxed by Usyk. The difference being Usyk's workrate is way better than Walcott, Charles and Tunney. And he should beat those boxers for that reason too.

I might come across as an Usyk fan, I'm actually not though, his style is very boring to me but it's incredibly effective.

 

This is the best post of the thread. If we are talking about head to head competition, my money is on the most versatile fighter which is pretty clearly Uysk.

Gold in the 2012 Olympics, Gold in the 2011 world cup, gold in 2008 and winning the Cruiserweight tournament, Uysk is used to beating multiple styles of fighters and has done it at every level. Those older dudes never fought anyone like him.
