What is/are the best example(s) of two all-time great fighters meeting each other in the ring, both close to, or at, their prime?

    I can't think of a better contender than Duran-Leonard I.

Other potential contenders off the top of my head, that don't quite make it:
    Frazier-Ali I
    Hagler-Hearns
    Leonard-Hearns I
    Greb-Walker
    Whitaker-Chavez?
    Pep-Saddler I & II?
    Louis-Conn I
Some point in the Greb-Tunney series
    Robinson-Gavilan II?

What do you think? Please enlighten me to more, especially if they're on film.

I was the same as the OP, Duran vs Leonard in Montreal immediately sprung to mind. Hearns was past his absolute peak at 160, the same as a few opponents of Hagler were.

I thought to include this, decided arguello was past prime, tho not shot of course. I guess it depends whether a fighter towards the end of their prime(a variable anyway) moving up to a new weight(that they where never a proven success at) is still prime?
