Come forward fighters tend to take more punishment that slick boxers/counter punchers because they're pressing the fight and applying the pressure they tend to be open for shots when they come in. Guys like Ricky Hatton and Michael Kastidis took way too much punishment in their careers, more then they should of anyway. That being said what are some good examples of come forward, aggressive pressure fighters/swarmers or sluggers that keep a high guard and protect themselves well, while still pressing the action? I think of the peek-a-boo style as an example Mike Tyson, Floyd Patterson and Jose Torres all kept there hands up for the most part and had good defensive skills yet remained offensive. Others?
Duran was the first that came to my mind.... i would not say it was a tight high guard as he bobbed it up and down a bit but for the most part it was up. 1 of the best defenses i have seen from a pressure fighter.
It depends on who you think is a pressure fighter Arthur Abraham has a high guard and is aggressive but he has a low workrate in the early round even though he's walking forward, Clottey is always right in front of his opponent but he's picking his shots well and has a low workrate despite walking forward. Maybe Cotto?
Cotto has a high-guard, earmuff style Tyson had a high guard that he mixed up with a peekaboo style Brandon rios is the best current example, aggressie, comefoward fighter, with a high guard and good workrate This content is protected Though the gif itself, is probably not the most successful example of it's use
